My name is Matt Daddysman and I'm a field applications scientist at BioTek.

My goal as your scientific consultant is to use my expertise to help you achieve your research goals with BioTek instruments and software.

My scientific background is in cellular biophysics so I'm interested in rapid cellular processes like calcium response kinetics. The calcium ion is ubiquitous second messenger in cell signaling pathways. The change in calcium ion concentration is both rapid, completing under a minute after stimulation and variable from cell to cell.  These challenges beg for a microscopy platform with integrated reagent injection an image analysis with high-throughput. BioTek provides this capability. A single 96-well plate yields 96 individual calcium experiments with the same exposure analysis settings. Compared to imaging and analyzing samples one at a time it is a massive time and effort savings. Seeing the happiness the savings gives our customers is my favorite part of the job.
