Caco-2 cells are human epithelial cells widely used as a model for the intestinal epithelial barrier. These cells grow as a single cell layer with the apical layer oriented towards the lumen and the basolateral layer towards the intestinal tissue. Perfused Caco-2 tubules formed within the OrganoPlate provide a biologically relevant model for various barrier function and transport assays. Confocal imaging of the OrganoPlate delivers valuable insight into tubule morphology.
