MultiFlo FX is an automated multimode reagent dispenser for 6- to 1536-well microplates. The system incorporates several unique technologies in its modular design, such as Parallel Dispense, random access dispense (RAD) and patented Automated Media Exchange (AMX) modules. The technologies in MultiFlo FX microplate dispenser enable many liquid handling applications from 2D and 3D cell culture to concentration normalization assays, ELISA, bead-based assays and more. A fully configured MultiFlo FX replaces up to five liquid handlers, saving space, time, and instrumentation budgets. MultiFlo FX delivers complete workflow automation in cell imaging and biochemical applications.

MultiFlo FX

Providing unsurpassed liquid handling flexibility, MultiFlo FX’s modular base can accommodate 1 or 2 peristaltic pumps, a 2-syringe pump module and a wash module or a single channel dispense. MultiFlo FX takes the place of multiple instruments, but is compact and very simple to use.

Automated, gentle media exchange for spheroids


The patented Automated Media Exchange (AMX) module uses peristaltic pumps to gently add and remove media from the wells, without disturbing 2D, 3D cell structures (spheroids, tumoroids). It’s also useful for washing spheroids and suspension cells.

The unique RAD technology enables custom-mapped dispensing to individual wells to facilitate many applications including concentration normalization assays.


Wash module for 6- to 384-well plates


The versatile wash module for MultiFlo FX enables 6- to 384-well washing with custom manifolds. Dispensing and aspirate tube positioning, fluid flow rate and wash parameters are fully customizable, and the angled dispense tubes provide gentle washing for cell-based assays. The module uses integrated dispense and waste pumps to keep the system compact.

Parallel Dispense technology: peristaltic and/or syringe pumps

Parallel dispense

Peristaltic pumps and syringe pumps each offer benefits; peri-pumps help save precious reagent, while syringe pumps are fast and precise. MultiFlo FX can be configured with 2 peri and 2 syringe pumps, allowing up to four reagents to be dispensed in parallel, without carryover.

Cell friendly angled dispense and/or wash tubes


For sensitive cell-based assays, the dispense tips on the MultiFlo FX dispense manifolds and wash manifolds are angled, allowing gentle reagent dispense down the well sides. This helps keep cell layers intact, even through multiple-step operations.

Secondary peripump module. Includes module and choice of (1) one peri-pump cassette with plastic tips.  
Dual syringe pump module (autoclavable). Includes module with two syringe pumps, (2) autoclavable bottles (PN 7140511) and (1) autoclavable tubing set (PN 7183006). Manifold(s) are required and must be purchased separately, see "Syringe Pump Dispenser Module" section for available manifolds.
Dual syringe pump module (non-autoclavable).  Includes module with two pumps, (2) non-autoclavable bottles (PN 4070515) and (1) non-autoclavable tubing set (PN 7183002).  Manifold(s) are required and must be purchased separately, see "Syringe Pump Dispenser Module" section for available manifolds.
Wash module. Includes pump, bottles, tubing and one 96/384 wash manifold. Other manifolds available, order separately.  
AMX Automated Media Exchange module. Includes secondary peri pump module, AMX dispense and aspirate manifolds. Two cassettes (PN 1260035) are required, order separately.  

Note: AMX module is compatible with MFXP2R, but requires PNs other than 1260041 for ordering. Please check with for more information about purchasing AMX for use with MFXP2R.
