BioTek Instruments Announces New Scientific Director

BioTek Instruments, Inc., a global leader in the development, manufacture and sale of microplate instrumentation for drug discovery and life science solutions, has hired Dr. Peter Banks as Scientific Director. Dr. Banks will manage BioTek’s Applications Group while also providing key scientific leadership and direction in emerging trends, opportunities and scientific discovery across its global business platforms.

Before joining BioTek, he served as Technology Leader, Bio-discovery with PerkinElmer Life and Analytical Sciences, where he played a principle role in strategic and product development activities. From 2002 to 2005, Dr. Banks held a series of leadership roles with PerkinElmer, Inc., including R&D Manager in Montreal and R&D Portfolio Leader for the Life Sciences business.

Dr. Banks holds both a B.Sc. in Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of British Columbia. He also has affiliations with the Society for Biomolecular Screening, Association for Laboratory Automation, American Chemical Society, and the American Society for Mass Spectrometry.
