Used in both high throughput screening (drug development) and life science research, fluorescence polarization, a homogenous assay technology, allows detection of molecular binding. The change in the rotational speed of bound fluorophores in a solution is the basis for the detection of fluorescence polarization.

The Synergy™ 4 uses high performance optics to measure fluorescence polarization: deep-blocking filters and dichroic mirrors ensure the best possible level of performance. In addition to fluorescence polarization, the Synergy™ 4 offers detection modes including fluorescence intensity, time-resolved fluorescence, luminescence, and UV-visible absorbance. Synergy 4 and Synergy 2 multi-detection microplate readers are controlled by the industry-leading Gen5™ Data Analysis Software. With its unique reader control, Gen5 can be quickly programmed to run a variety of assays, from simple endpoint absorbance to complicated fluorescence polarization protocols or multi-step kinetics. Designed to provide efficient workflow and a logical interface, this software enables quick and easy transition between reading parameters, plate layout, and data reduction to create customized reports in a publication-ready form.
